Join Elizabeth McGovern as she takes an in-depth look at the young American heiresses whose real life stories inspired the acclaimed TV drama “Downton Abbey.” This series takes you from the late 1800s, when daughters of America's new industrial millionaires marry into the money-strapped British aristocracy, to the 20th century, when a new kind of American Princess wields power not through wealth, but through character, style, and wit. Through the decades, these women bring dramatic change to the European aristocracy and eventually the world.

I so enjoyed history as given through the eyes of women during the time. It so helped me to understand the emotional nature, conflicts and world that I grew up with. It put an honest light to the struggling realities that for some are in play. An art that seems to be dwindling. Tired of mrs. Muscels so many aspire to. No class
  • What? I can’t hear you! Speak up! The musical score TOO LOUD.

The content is wonderful…but it I can’t hear a word of the commentary ….and that isn’t due to the soft spoken Elizabeth McGovern, it is the insanely loud volume of the background music. I have to watch it with subtitles…absolutely ridiculous! It makes my head hurt.
